Our Tall Ship will be waiting for you in Tromso, Norway. Here you will step aboard for an adventure through Norway's Fjords on to the white Arctic world of Svalbard. Depending on the weather window for the coming week we might visit the famous Norwegian Fjords. We are in the Northern region of the Norwegian Lofoten, so be ready for spectacular views of these impressive fjords as we set our course to Spitsbergen.

Group size
We will have a crew consisting of 4 nautical crewmembers, 1 chef and either 1 or 2 certified guides, depending on the size and requirements of the group. We’ll have a maximum of 12 guests on board. To ensure a more tailored experience, we can organize two seperate groups based on everyone’s experience. This way you can choose to join the faster-paced group or the slower-paced one, depending on your preferences and comfort level.

Tromsø is often called the "Gateway to the Arctic". Since we depart from Tromsø for our voyage to the Arctic Archipelo Svalbard, this meaning is quite literal! The city of Tromsø offers a lot of opportunities for outdoor activities and indoor activities. Depending on the weather window for the coming week we might visit the famous Norwegian Fjords. We are in the Northern region of the Norwegian Lofoten, so be ready for spectacular views of these impressive fjords as we set our course to Spitsbergen. Is the weather looking good? Time to sail under the famous Tromsø bridge and set sail to the North!

While we wait for a perfect weather window to start the crossing to Svalbard, we might sail towards the Norwegian fjords. We are located close to the North of the Lofoten, the well-known group of island that have been voted by National Geographic as one of the most appealing destinations in the world. From September to April the magical Northern Lights are often spotted here. Who knows...

We found the best window! It is time to leave Norway and bring our Tall Ship to her second home in Svalbard. You will experience sailing at it's finest aboard our traditional sailing vessel. You are very welcome to join in on the crew while they perform all the nautical tasks aboard. Do you feel more like reading a book? Perfectly fine!
While crossing we might be able to visit Bear Island, the southernmost island of Spitsbergen. Here you might see the remains of walrus hunt, whaling, or even coal mining.

After a sailing trip off about 4-5 days you will see the Arctic wilderness of Svalbard appear. Since we are fully dependant on the weather circumstances, we might have to sail to Longyearbyen. However, if time allows we could visit some of the fjords around the capital of Spitsbergen.

It's time to end our voyage. We have arrived in Longyearbyen, and depending on your flights you might be able to visit a bit of the city. Nevertheless, it is time to say goodbye to the Noorderlicht. From the airplane you will have a last view on the impressive Arctic wilderness. We hope to see you again aboard in the future!

With over 30 years of sailing in Spitsbergen and Nothern Norway Tall Ship Noorderlicht has built a reputation as the most famous Tall Ship in Spitsbergen. The ship is equipped with one goal: accommodating adventurers during their expeditions to Spitsbergen and Northern Norway. Because of her shallow draft she is able to navigate through the least visited fjords. She offers room for 20 guests and is therefore the perfect vessel for forming new friendships. If you wish to learn a thing or two about sailing a Tall Ship, you are invited to give the crew a hand.
